Classes — Winter 2009

Welcome to Clapping Land’s Classes homepage.

Winter and Spring 2009 programs are now open for registration. Baby classes begin during the third week of January, while toddlers and pre-schoolers start up January 17th.

For her ninth straight year, Sophia Grigoriadis will be offering an engaging and stimulating balance of Kindermusik and world music sessions to baby, toddler and preschooler age groups in the Pape/Danforth neighbourhood.

Kindermusik® Village, for children newborn to 1½ years of age, incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement. High quality, professionally created class and At Home materials are based on current research that educate parents about their babies' unique development.

Sound Adventures, for children 18 months to 3½ years is a new program developed by Sophia that focuses on songs, instruments and rhythms from different cultures. Toddlers will love the range of dance and movement activities, drumming games and call and response songs that expand upon their growing language, physical, cognitive and social abilities, while connecting them to their community at large and the world beyond.

Sound Explorers, for children 3½ to 5 years, also designed by Sophia Grigoriadis, gives the inquisitive preschooler the opportunity to learn many singing and movement games from different cultures. Creative movement to improvised soundscapes, structured dances, ensemble work using both percussion and voice, and stories from different cultures are all featured in this fun session.
